Printmaking goes way back to the beginnings of human culture. Traditionally, an original print meant that the artist created the etched plate, silkscreen, lithographic stone, woodcut, or monoprint. The artist would then mix the inks, apply the ink to the surface of the medium, and then pull the print in the appropriate press. Printmaking has evolved with mankind and is very much at a point where technological breakthroughs are creating new ways of printing.
I did a few etchings and serigraphs when I was younger and really liked the mediums, but I spent most of my time painting then. Now, some twenty years later, it's nice to be able to make giclee prints of some of my old original etchings and serigraphy.
I have included original computer generated digial paintings here in the original print section. They are the newest form of fine art original printmaking.
I've been experimenting with digital imaging for about 8 years now. The learning curve is steep, and to be honest, I still feel like a beginner. Photoshop is infinite and I doubt I will ever understand it all.
To be able to publish artwork on the web and on paper is pretty cool. I must have been a printmaker in a past life because this is something I've wanted to be able to do since I started painting.
