" I painted this about a year after I stopped painting for a living, I had started my new career as a journeyman marble mason, moved from Sunland-Tujunga area to Santa Monica, closer to Beverly Hills areas where I mostly worked, I was living in a small room in a dive motel for about a year, for a while I worked on some paintings there, this is one of them.

I stared closely into a mirror to do this self portrait of my eye. The print is a detail of the original painting, which is on 16x20 canvas. I gave this painting to one of my best friends, because he liked it I guess, he passed away in Phoenix a few years ago, and now I have the original again.

'Blue Eye' was a message from my saddened spirit, unhappy with myself about abandoning my true calling, to create art. I was sad for a thousand reasons then, absent a soul mate, lost and alone, the story of my life, a true self portrait of my soul, crying in isolation for joy, a revelation of my future. "
